Walking

Walking walking my feet do pound
Upon the wet and soggy ground
Walking walking on and on
Always heading toward the dawn

Walking walking walking still
I tire of dragging my weary will
Yet walking walking on I walk
I fear I’ll go till my feet fall off

Walking walking along the beach
The coarse sand a painful belief
Walking walking on bleeding feet
Dragging on with no relief

Walking walking until the end
Seeking relief from this land
Walking walking on tips of toes
Until I shall fall and bang my nose

Walking walking with no relief
Still on the toes of my feet
Walking walking for an age
Trailing refuse in my wake

Walking walking except I’m done
I’ve finally reached the rising sun
Walking walking no more again
Cleansed at last my weary end

Heartfelt

We loved each other, but didn’t know where to go
But now that we’re here together, I just want you to know
I love you, I love you, with all my heart and soul
I love you, I love you, I just wanted you to know
These times have been tough on us, and on you most of all
But we’ll make it together here, our union makes us strong
I love you, I love you, my beloved love and dear
I love you, I love you, I’m glad that you are here
I know that I have hurt you, and that I’ve made you cry
But though things have been rocky, you never said goodbye
I love you, I love you, you are my very best
I love you, I love you, let’s put the past to rest

Good Morning Beautiful

Good morning beautiful
You’re looking good today
Good morning beautiful
So many words to say

I love you with my heart, oh truly
I love you with my soul
I love the way you smile at me
I thought I’d let you know

Good morning beautiful
You’re looking good today
Good morning beautiful
A surprise is on its way

Our romance was the whirlwind kind
My head spins so fast
It’s time to slow things down now
We’ve eternity to last

Good morning beautiful
You’re looking good today
Good morning beautiful
I’ve final words to say

I’d not give this up for anything
You own my heart and soul
We’ve reached the final stanza here
My mate, my life and more

Good morning beautiful
You’re looking good today
Good morning beautiful
There’s nothing more to say

Artist Insanity

The mind of an artist is an insane thing

Inciting you to draw that one last line
Or write a sonnet about knitting twine
Forcing you to burn the Midnight Oil
You beg it to rest but still you toil

When the day’s light is in the sky
Your muses sleep and so you sigh
But when you would put your mind to rest
It’s wide awake and demanding your best

Why oh why must the mind be so
Jumping about like a jackrabbit oh
At all the wrong hours it would have you work
Yet when you want it there’s not a quirk

So woe betide the poem’s written
Will I get to rest or still be smitten
By my muses active so
Dancing around when the sun hides low

Numbered Stars

For the stars numbered in the sky
My love I’ll take you high so high
To take them down one by one
In your hands a miniature sun
In the dark to comfort you
That my love always will be true
And though in light they fade away
To give up to the new day
It is at night that they will shine for you
My love always will be true

Fate’s Spindle

And so fate weaves the destinies
Of you and of me
A spinning cycle of woven twine
Eternally spun
Rarely benign

Once woven cannot be undone
Pain and pleasure entwined as one
Reaching forever for the past
Grasping shadows
Never at rest

Crying laughing anger still
The spindle weaves as it will
For fate weaves the destinies
Of you and of me
And the river only flows one way

Everywhere I Turn

Everywhere I turn something reminds me of you
I feel almost that I must start anew

A new name, a new space, maybe even a new face
I need to get out of this place

Because everywhere I turn something reminds me of you
The way that I feel has me quite askew

I’ve hoped and I’ve prayed for you to come back
But instead I just have a continuous lack

So since I will never have you back in my life
It’s time to find a new one without so much strife

And so to my old life I must bid adieu
To take a new one that doesn’t remind me of you

Heartbeat

In the middle of a heartbeat
Between one beat and the next
Time
Stands
Still

An eternity passes
Between one beat and the next
A moment that lasts forever
This second
You and I

I could be lost in your eyes forever
Never again alone
In this second that lasts a thousand years
I’ve finally found my home
Here with you

Sing

Sing a song for the dying man
Sing a song for me
Sing a song into the wind
That wrenching melody

Sing as you’ve never sung before
Sing as if you’ll break
Sing like no one’s listening
And scream out your heartbreak

Sing a song sung by many
Sing a song sung by few
Sing a song you’ve made yourself
Pretend that you’re brand new

Sing a little Irish jig
Sing out to the sky
Sing like the pretty bird
And then begin to cry

Sing a song for the widow’s son
Sing a song for yourself
Sing a song of war and pain
As they put you in the ground

Hate

Plunging off the bridge
A note
Written in blood
It wrote:

“Hate me not for sins I’ve done”
“Hate not this ruined one”
“Hate instead this society”
“Hate what was done to me”

“Hate that I had to hide”
“Hate not what I was inside”
“Hate the ones who threw the rocks”
“Hate the ones who drove me out”

The letter flutters and hits the water
Words running all together
Smearing words speaking hate
Blurring until there’s no mistake

Forming together
Making something new
Around the heart that bloomed
New words were born

“Love”
“Tolerance”
“Belief”
“Life”
